– Game Industry Hub!

We are now officially live! Playa – Game Industry Hub is a community of game industry players in the region of South-Eastern Finland. The community consists of game developers, game equipment manufacturers, suppliers, educational institutes and other stakeholders.

We are also proud to present Level Up – a common workspace for the regional game industry cluster. Level Up will act as a nerve centre and hive of activity of Playa. Level Up is a fantastic setting to start and accelerate new game companies.

South-Eastern Finland is becoming an emerging star in the global game industry marketplace. Local game developers have been building up valuable assets in know-how and – more importantly – know-who within the industry. We are clearly getting on the map. With new game companies being established and joining the cluster, the shout is getting louder.

Cursor, KyAMK, LUT and other partners are supporting this development with a clear ambition of becoming one of the most successful game clusters in the world. Within the network of local game industry players, we already have great skills in business development, art design and software development among others. One the most important factors in building up this collective skillset has been the straight-forward cooperation between game companies and the high-quality education and the supportive and committed staff at the local polytechnic university, KyAMK. This cooperation model is now expanding towards educational institutes in the region and beyond.

As a regional development company, Cursor is aiming to equip the game industry cluster with tools that will create added visibility, common resources and activities that will help boost growth and expansion of the local game industry. Currently, we are launching a common marketing brand “Playa Game Industry Hub” that will help the cluster stand out in the global market place and a shared game development studio “Level Up”, that will primarily act as a launching pad for new game companies and as a common working space for the whole cluster. Through our expertise and contacts, we are also helping and educating the new and already established companies in day-to-day activities of running a business.

In the future, Cursor and partners will be developing tools for the Playa concept to better support the companies, especially start-ups, with their business development, financing, publishing and networking with the right partners. In order to provide added value to the cluster, fruitful cooperation with partners in Finland and abroad is key – especially, as being one of Cursor’s areas of excellence, tapping into the massive possibilities provided by Russia.
